Office Information: About Your Visit

New Patients

New patients should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment to complete paperwork. You may download the information sheet and complete and bring with you at the time of your appointment. Please bring a picture ID, insurance information and all of your current medications.

Insurance Information

We accept most major insurance plans. Medicaid requires referral from your primary care physician. Some insurance plans require referral from your primary care physician. If you have a question about this please call our office and discuss with our financial counselor prior to your appointment.

Appointments

Patients are seen by appointment only. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call us as far in advance as possible so we may use that time to see another patient in need of care. We make every effort to adhere to our appointment schedule and appreciate your patience if there is an emergency or a surgery delay.

Fees & Payments

Payment is expected at the time of service. If we participate in your insurance plan you should be prepared for any co-payments or deductibles at the time of your visit. This is part of your contact with your insurance company. We accept cash, checks, MasterCard and Visa. If you do not have insurance and/or need financial assistance, please contact our financial counselor.

Prescriptions & Renewals

Please request refills on your prescriptions at the time of your visit. If you should need a prescription refill between visits, allow 24 hours for the prescription to be phoned in to the pharmacy. Narcotics will not be called in after hours.

Physician Emergency & On Call Policy

When the office is closed, a physician is on call 24 hours a day. FOR EMERGENCIES ONLY you may contact the physician on call by calling the hospital switchboard at 803-536-0390. If you have a life threatening emergency, call 911 or seek treatment at the nearest emergency room.

Walk In Appointments

South Carolina Orthopaedic Institute is an appointment-only office. Examination by a physician cannot be guaranteed if you present to the office without an appointment.

Disability Forms

We need 7-10 business days to complete disability forms. There is a $10 fee for each form to be completed. Forms will not be accepted for completion until this fee is paid.

Copying of X-rays

Patients requesting copies of x-rays will be charged $10 for copying. These will be put on a CD for release. No original films will be released, they are a part of your medical record in our office. An authorization for release of film must be signed and submitted before any request for film will be processed.
